Specialty Insurance began in 1979 as a wholesale insurance broker in Jacksonville, Florida. In March of 2014, William W. Erwin, Jr purchased the company to help improve services to the existing carrier and agent partners. The business has grown in excess of 100% since the acquisition. Specialty is a Lloyd’s of London Coverholder and represents admitted and non-admitted markets allowing them to provide extremely competitive rates across a broad spectrum of risks. Specialty expects to continue to grow significantly through current and new partnerships combined with providing new and innovative techniques.

William W. Erwin, Jr. (Bill) – President

Bill is currently the President of Duval Brokerage Services and Real Estate related business interests. He is Past President of Duval Premium Budget with extensive experience in Insurance Premium Financing as well as Insurance Agency Management. He has served on professional boards and was the Past President of the Florida Premium Finance Association. Bill served as Vice Chair of the Diocesan Council for the Episcopal Diocese of Florida and has served on the Vestry of St. John’s Cathedral as Senior Warden along with chairing many committees.  Currently Bill serves on the Board of Trustees for The Bolles School.  He attended The Bolles School, Tulane University and Jacksonville University. Bill currently resides in Jacksonville Florida with his wife Lynda and has three daughters, Sarah, Mary Caroline, Amelia, son-in-law John and two grandchildren.

Walter has earned extensive industry experience beginning with Massachusetts Mutual and Progressive Insurance before starting his own agency North Florida Insurance, in 1989. In 2011, NFI was acquired by Erwin Insurance Agency where he spent two years before joining Specialty under new management. With 45 years of industry experience, he brings great knowledge and strong understanding of agents needs. Walter spends his time traveling and has made a number of trips to the Swiss Alps, Canadian Rockies and even Machu Picchu. He currently resides in Jacksonville with his wife Sandy. He has two daughters, a step-daughter, step-son. Combined, Walter and Sandy have a total of 7 grandchildren.
